Abstract:A mesh parameterization is needed to generate mapping information between a 3D surface and a 2D plane. However, it needs to ensure that the 3D surface is disk-like topology. The problem arises if it is not disk topology, it needs a disk topology transformation. We propose an enhanced method for creating a disk topology patch from any 2-manifold surface which delivers continuous one-on-one bounded-boundary mapping with low distortion. First, we propose an enhanced cutting method to convert a 2-manifold surface into the topological disk by using geodesic path analysis. Then, we propose an enhancement method for extending cut path that delivers a faster, more precise and less distortion.
